Dr. Héctor Oltra García (1976, Alboraia, València - Spain). Composer, conductor and musical researcher. Higher degree in the specialties of Composition and Orchestra Conducting, Master in Contemporary Music and PhD in Music by Polytechnic University of Valencia with cum laude mention and proposal for Extraordinary Doctorate Prize. Dr. Oltra has been tracing an intense activity in contemporary musical creation, developed multidisciplinary through composition, direction and musical research.
As a composer, his works have been premiered and programmed at various international contemporary music festivals in Spain, the United States, Romania, Italy, Greece, Poland, Serbia, Russia, Germany and the United Kingdom. His music, mainly inspired by art, science, literature, philosophy or committed to current society, presents an abstract and non-traditional personal language, giving a main sound role to its suggestive capacity through the treatment of texture, the timbre, the color or the gestures.
He has conducted the Mediterranean Symphony Orchestra and its Soloist Ensemble, the CSMV Symphony Orchestra, the FSMCV Regional Band, among others. He is currently the artistic director and conductor of the Ensemble Síntesis, a chamber group specialized in contemporary music.
